Ruger- Ruger, is also known as Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. Ruger is a firearm manufacturer based in Connecticut. Ruger produces rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers. This article provides an overview of Ruger and some of the popular Ruger guns. Ruger!

Founding of Ruger

William B. Ruger received his first gun, a rifle, from his father when he was 12 years old, and created the first draft of designs for a light machine gun that was used by the United States Army when he was in his early twenties in 1938. The business Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. was founded by Ruger and Alexander McCormick Sturm, a writer and in this case, investor, in 1949.

Ruger and Safety

Ruger’s company motto is "Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens," and there is a safety emphasis on their website. This includes:

• An offer of free conversion kits for older model revolvers

• The practice of which the company pioneered in 1987 of providing a lockable box with a padlock with all new pistols and revolvers.

• A replacement program for customers with old cable locks or brass padlocks on their gun lockbox with new, more secure replacements

• Internal locking devices on all pistols manufactured since 2004 and

• External locking devices on all firearms manufactured since the end of 2005

Ruger in the Sports Manufacturing Industry

In 2010, Ruger received its fourth "Manufacturer of the Year Award" from the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers in a row. In 2004, the company teamed with TALO Distributors to create a commemorative pistol especially for the USA Shooting Team with profits from the sale of the special edition pistol being used to support the team. Ruger has also won the "Handgun of the Year" award for the Ruger SR9c in 2010 and the LCR in 2009 from the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence. Ruger also won the award in 2008. This list of awards just further shows the excellence of the Ruger company. Ruger Models

Ruger makes bolt-action, single-shot, and autoloading rifles; shotguns; and double-action and single-action revolvers; as well as centerfire and rimfire pistols. Ruger shotguns are used by both hunters and clay and skeet shooters. Revolvers are used for plinking, competition, and small game hunting. Ruger rifles are also popular and very versatile.

Ruger Pistols

Centerfire and rimfire are types of ammunition. Centerfire refers to the centered position of the primer in the cartridge case head and the fact that the firing pin strikes the center of the base of the cartridge in order to ignite it. Rimfire refers to the fact that the firing pin strike’s the rim of the base of the cartridge, rather than the center.

The Ruger centerfire pistol models include the LCP, LCS SR9c, SR9, SR40, and the P-Series, including P345, P90, P944, P95, as well as some distributor exclusives in several of the models. The Ruger rimfire pistol models include: the 22 Charger, the Mark III, and the 22/45, each of which have several styles. The various models of Ruger pistols can be used for a variety of purposes.
