Stalker Radars and Lidars- Stalker Radar and Stalker Lidar are some of the most popular police radars and police lidars used. In this Stalker radar article, Police Equipment Reviews will give you an overview of Stalker. Stalker Radars and Stalker Lidars!

Stalker is doing business under the name of Applied Concepts, Inc., a Texas manufacturer of electronics since 1977. While it is not uncommon for major electronic companies to venture into other areas, there are very few of them that can compete in the radar and lidar industry. Keep reading for more information on Stalker radars and Stalker lidars.

Introduction to Stalker Radar/Lidar

Radar stands for RAdio Detecting And Ranging. It is a means of detecting objects at a distance and pinpointing their position, velocity, or other attributes using high frequency radio waves. Lidar, or laser radar (for LIght raDAR) makes the same determinations as radar, but accomplishes them using the reflection of pulsed lasars rather than radio waves. Lidars are much more accurate because you can pinpoint an object at a greater distance because of the beam width being so much smaller.

Stalker creates Doppler radar systems. The first Stalker Radar product was introduced in 1989, and the company has long been in the forefront of radar development, being responsible for the first moving traffic radar, the first "long range" radar, and many other firsts. Stalker Radar/Lidar has ISO 9001:2008 Certification. Stalker provides products for both law enforcement and for sports speed measurement and acceleration testing, as well as accessories.

The four main categories of Stalker Radar/Lidar products for law enforcement are Police Radar, Police Laser, Radar Detector Detectors, Traffic Speed Displays, and Speed/Message Trailers. In this police equipment review we will review each of these four products for law enforcement to help you determine which is the best radar/lidar products for your police equipment needs.

Police Radar

Stalker makes 5 police radar devices:

  1. The Stalker DSR 2X radar provides a rear traffic alert to avoid rear-end collisions. When used in stationary mode, it can cover 4 target zones, while it is capable of covering two zones when moving.
  2. The Stalker DSR can identify whether traffic is approaching or departing, whether it is stationary or moving. It can focus on an approaching target without interference from departing vehicles. It also alerts the operator to whether the front or rear antenna was used to lock the target and the direction in which the target is moving.
  3. The Stalker Dual SL is available with either 1 or 2 antennas and is able to interface with both cameras and computer.
  4. The Stalker II, available in 2 models MDR (Moving Directional Radar) and SDR (Stationary Directional Radar). Both models use the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, faster speed tracking, backlit LCD for use at night and more.
  5. The Stalker Basic is available in a moving or stationary version and has an adjustable sensitivity range and can be operated or charged from the vehicle's cigar outlet or recharged from a wall outlet.

Police Laser

The Stalker Lidar LR is a hand-held police laser is quick to acquire targets and has Doppler audio tracking. It's useful for precisely determining the speed of vehicles that are close together, for example, in urban traffic. It can operate in both single-shot and continuous tracking modes. This is one of the best police equipment options for law enforcement today.

Police Radar Detector Detector

The Spectre Elite helps determine if drivers of commercial motor vehicles are using radar detectors, which they are prohibited from doing by Federal law. The Spectre Elite will detect even those models that claim to be "undetectable" because all radar detectors are detected in the same way, by sensing electromagnetic "leakage" the comes from every radar detector.

Speed Displays

The Stalker Speedboard is a self-contained combination radar and speed display. It can be used in school zones and areas where accidents are common, to help reduce the number accidents. The Stalker Speedboard can be placed on signs, or on a trunk or roof of a vehicle. The speedboard is used to let motorists see how fast they are going and what the posted speed limit is, warning them to slow down when they are going too fast. The Stalker Speedboard is an important part of police equipment and can be powered using DC, AC, or solar energy.

Speed /Message Trailers

The Speed Awareness Monitor has amber characters 18" tall and readable at up to 1000 ft., while the Variable Message Sign, which offers a choice of 12" or 18" characters and is capable of conveying over 300 messages, which are customizable. This is great to put on the streets to stop the complaints from coming in and to show people their speed without having to put an officer there full time. The Stalker speed trailers are capable of being moved very easily because they are simply towed behind a vehicle.

Whatever your police equipment needs may be, review Stalker products to see if they have the best police radars and/or lidars for the needs of your agency.
