Check out Police Equipment Reviews article on the Glock 26! The Glock 26 was one of the first Glock pistols designed for concealment usage. It was designed to compete with the old school 5 shot revolvers. Introduced in 1994, the Glock 26 has been gaining popularity every day! So just what does the Glock 26 have? The Glock 26 is a sub compact 9 mm handgun. It gives officers the ability to carry a Glock 17 or Glock 19 as a duty weapon and carry a back up gun that is compatible with the duty magazines. That is a huge plus for the Glock 26. Should an officer need extra rounds during a shoot out, the Glock 26 will hold the Glock 17 magazines. The Glock 26 is about 6.29 inches long and 4.17 inches high, similar to the Glock 27. It has a standard 10 round magazine with a 5.5 lb trigger pull. Just like all the other Glock guns, it is a safe action handgun. Here are the technical specs for the Glock 26:
The Glock 26 is so small it is sometimes referred to as the "baby Glock" or "pocket pistol" the smallest of the Glock family this pistol is great for concealed carry, even a pocket holster will generally hold this pistol well. It is not the smallest on the market but definitely small enough to carry around. The fact that is carries the Glock name lets everyone know that this is a reliable firearm that will last for years, through thousands of rounds. The Glock 26 was first introduced in 1995 and was intended mostly for the civilian market. As a smaller firearm it is perfect for concealed carry, which many civilians are looking for. But as a back up for your police equipment it is a great choice, especially if you have a Glock 17 or Glock 19 as your main duty weapon. The Glock 26 will accept magazines from both guns. If for any reason your main duty weapon becomes unavailable and you still have a mag on you and a Glock 26 in concealed carry, you are set. No worries about carry different mags or finding a different place to carry another size round for your secondary, the combination of the 17 or 19 with the Glock 26 provides double coverage using one type of magazine. As with all the other Glock pistol reviews, the Glock 26 has rave reviews for dependability and durability. While it may take a little practice to get your accuracy at the same level as it is with another gun; practice and getting used to the different weight and size will allow you to be just as accurate with the Glock 26 as your main duty weapon. There are many choices but many law enforcement officers will choose a Glock as their backup if they are carrying a Glock as the duty weapon. As backup police equipment, the "baby Glock" is probably the most popular choice. The Glock is very simple to use and this smaller Glock is also good for letting the wife or kids get in a little shooting time. It is smaller and generally fits in smaller hands and is easy for them to shoot. Just another of the may perks of the Glock 26. Because the Glock 26 is a lot smaller it has only a two finger pistol grip, and a shorter barrel and slide. The standard magazine is a double-stack with a 10 round capacity. In addition to the shortened barrel the Glock 26 required a rework of the frame, the locking block and the spring assembly. The new fourth generation Glocks started using the dual recoil spring assembly but the Glock 26 had already been using this spring assembly previously. If you like shooting Glock guns and especially if you carry Glock 9mm guns, you need to own a Glock 26. The Glock 26 is one of the best back up guns and very accurate. The Glock 26 can be found at most police supply stores for around $500.00. Trust a proven and tried handgun manufacturer, shoot only the best! Glock 26!!!
