Glock 22- The Glock 22 gun is one of the most popular police guns. No matter what type of police gear you have on your duty belt, the Glock 22 pistol will be a fine compliment to it. Police Equipment Reviews loves the Glock 22 handgun.

One of the most popular Glock handguns is the Glock 22. It is pretty clear when you read all the Glock 22 reviews that everybody thinks highly of the Glock 22 pistol. Police Equipment Reviews is no different. Before Police Equipment Reviews gives you some of our opinions on the Glock 22, we will give you a little history on Glock in general and the Glock 22, specifically.

In 1980 the Austrian military made it known that they were in search of a new, modern duty pistol to replace the WWII era firearms they had been using. They came up with a list of 17 features that the new weapon must embody. The list was very specific, including the standard and capacity required for each of the individual rounds that would be used, the maximum number of individual parts the weapon could be made from, and even a maximum number of malfunctions permissible during the first 10,000 firings of the weapon. Glock became aware of the list and put together a team of experts consisting of military, police and civilians to come up with a prototype. Within 3 months they had a prototype ready and by 1982 the Austrian military and police adopted its use and ordered more than 25,000 firearms in their initial order.

Naturally this sparked international attention for the Glock pistols and during the following 10 years the Glock 17 was adopted by Norwegian and Swedish Armed Forces and became a NATO-classified sidearm. By 1992 more than 350,000 Glock pistols had been sold in more than 45 countries, with more than 250,000 of them being sold in the United States alone. The Glock pistols have been modified several times throughout their production history, with an integrated recoil spring assembly replacing the original two piece recoil spring and tube design in 1991.

In 2010 Glock presented their fourth generation design; with updates on the ergonomics and recoil spring assembly being two of the main changes in design and functionality. This new generation does not have total part interchangeability with the earlier Glock models. Among the first of the new fourth generation Glocks were the full-size Glock 17 and Glock 22. Some of the notable differences in the new fourth generation models include a slightly small grip, a longer cross pin to mount the medium or large backstrap, and larger, reversible magazine release catch that accommodates left-handed use.

The Glock 22 was introduced by Glock in 1990, seeing a need to fill the gap between the Glock 17 and the Glock 37. The Glock 22 is a .40 caliber handgun that is very popular among police officers. It has a standard issued 15 round magazine and has rails that accommodate the Glock tactical lights or Streamlight tactical lights. The Glock 22 has a trigger pull of 5.5 pounds. It is about 7.32 inches long and has a right hand, hexagonal barrel rifling.

Police Equipment Reviews loves the Glock 22 for many reasons. The main reason is the reliability of it. The Glock 22 has never malfunctioned on Police Equipment Reviews (knock on wood!) Police Equipment Reviews has the Streamlight TLR 2 tactical light on it and has not experience any problems with that. The Glock 22 is very accurate and has minimal kick back for a .40 caliber handgun. Another key reason that Police Equipment Reviews likes the Glock 22 is because the magazines are compatible with the Glock 27 magazines. This gives the officer a huge amount of insurance incase they need to use a back up weapon.

Most of the other police equipment reviews we have read in regards to the Glock 22 have been similar. These reviews all testify to the fact that the Glock 22 is a powerful and reliable gun. One reviewer reported shooting 600 rounds a month for 10 years without any problems. The Glock pistols are definitely one of the most powerful and reliable police equipment firearms on the market. Glock has always worked to provide the most dependable firearms; targeting the police and military personnel markets specifically. With a great understanding of reliability in these two fields of service, they stick to the most stringent testing and quality guidelines to ensure the best equipment for all military and police use.
