ASP baton reviews One of the most important pieces of police gear on a duty belt is a non lethal weapon such as an ASP baton. ASP batons are collapsible batons that compliment the rest of your police equipment. ASP batons are very popular among cops. For the first part of this ASP baton review we will cover some of the basic information about the ASP baton then we will get into our own personal police equipment review about our personal experience with ASP batons. The ASP website indicated that ASP makes eighty-eight models of ASP batons. ASP makes so many different batons in an effort to meet the requirements of many different police officers and the specific situation that they will be using this piece of police equipment for. Our ASP baton review found that they offer two separate types of locking systems, the Friction Loc or the self-closing LeverLoc. Each is designed to provide the officer a choice for his or her own police equipment needs. With the LeverLoc system the officer only needs to twist the baton to retract it. The ASP grip options provide officers with the choice in which type of grip will work best in the circumstances in which the ASP baton will be used. Choose from the foamed vinyl cushioned grip, the DuraTec grip that provides a molded design that is very durable or the Wavemaster grip that provides increased retention. ASP baton reviews also talk about the different shaft options on ASP batons. Some options include the Airweight, Black Chrome, Chrome, and Electroless are all different options from which a police officer can choose to find the best ASP baton for his police gear. Other attachments provide even more adaptability with the ASP batons. For an officer that needs increased retention, more striking power, or other specific attachments for a custom ASP baton. Other ASP baton reviews tell about the ASP attachments for a light, insignia or other custom logo. Some of the standard insignias include those for the US military and State seals. Visit the ASP website to learn more about specific ASP attachments you are interested in for your ASP baton. One of the other attachments covered in some ASP baton reviews are the leverage caps. Adding a leverage cap transfers the fulcrum (point the lever rests) to the pinkie increasing both speed and impact potential. With a leverage cap the F16 has the impact potential of the F21. ASP offers a training course for anyone that will be using the ASP batons. It is a not for profit program that is held on all seven continents with universal techniques and curriculum to make sure the training is consistent. The ASP training course is designed to provide practical skills that will assist all officers when they are out on the street, not just in a classroom. For the second part of this ASP batons review we will talk a little about our personal experience that we had with one of the ASP batons. Police Equipment Reviews has had the opportunity to use an ASP black chrome baton for a few years. The baton is available in the following lengths: 16", 21", 26" and 31". This ASP baton is made of heat treated 4140 high carbon steel with a zinc coated handle and anodized black chrome finish creating a corrosion resistant piece of police equipment to add to your cop gear! Police Equipment Reviews used the 26" baton with a foam grip and a grip cap for added grip. The grip cap was nice because it prevents the hands from slipping off the handle in the heat of the moment. We found that the 26" ASP baton was a good length to have as it prevented us from getting too close to the subject when we had to use the baton. Police Equipment Reviews did, however, have a continuous problem during the couple years that we carried an ASP baton. Almost every time the baton was extended, within one or two strikes at most, the baton would collapse. On several occasions the baton didn’t even last through one strike. Police Equipment Reviews took the baton to the local police equipment store where it was purchased and they gave us a new internal clip for it. Even after installing the new clip, the baton still had the same problem. A baton is an essential part of one’s police equipment and must be reliable in the crucial moments when it is needed. As a result of that problem, Police Equipment Reviews switched to Monadnock batons and has had no problems with the Monadnock batons. Read some of our other police equipment reviews about Monadnock batons to learn more about this police gear and see if they have the best police baton to meet your needs. Police Equipment Reviews does not recommend the ASP batons as a result of the problems that we had while using it. A baton is a very important part of your police gear and you deserve the best cop gear that is going to work for you when you most need it.
